The University of Florida accepted approximately 23% of applicants for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle, making it the most selective public university in Florida. With over 70,000 applications received annually, getting into UF requires more than good grades. You need a clear strategy.
The middle 50% of admitted UF students scored between 1330 and 1490 on the SAT. A 1400 SAT score puts you right in the sweet spot, while anything above 1450 makes you a strong candidate for merit scholarships. On the GPA side, UF expects a weighted GPA of 4.4 or above for competitive applicants.
UF superscores the SAT, meaning they take your highest section scores across multiple test dates. This is a major advantage if you plan to test more than once. If you are currently scoring below 1300, a focused SAT study plan can help you close the gap in 8 to 12 weeks.
UF is the most selective of the big three Florida publics. Our SAT score comparison for UF FSU and UCF shows exactly how the three schools stack up. FSU accepts around 25% of applicants with a middle 50% SAT of 1270 to 1410, while UCF accepts around 30% with a middle 50% of 1210 to 1370.
Florida residents who hit a 1330 SAT also qualify for the Florida Academic Scholars award through Bright Futures, which covers 100% of tuition at any Florida public university. So your SAT prep is doing double duty: getting you into UF and paying for it.
Take the most rigorous courses available, including AP, IB, and dual enrollment. UF recalculates your GPA using their own scale and gives extra weight to advanced coursework. Your essays matter too. UF reads thousands of applications, so your writing needs to reveal something genuine about who you are, not just list accomplishments.
