USF Acceptance Rate in 2026

The University of South Florida accepted approximately 35% of applicants for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle. USF has risen rapidly in national rankings and is now classified as a Preeminent State Research University by the Florida Board of Governors, offering a strong balance of academic quality and attainable admission standards.

SAT Score and GPA Requirements

The middle 50% of admitted USF students scored between 1170 and 1340 on the SAT. A 1300 SAT score makes you a strong candidate, while a 1200 puts you in solid range. On the GPA side, competitive applicants have weighted GPAs of 3.5 or above. The Judy Genshaft Honors College is significantly more selective, typically requiring a 1350 or higher SAT and a 4.0 weighted GPA.

How USF Compares to Other Florida Schools

USF sits between UCF and FSU in selectivity. Our SAT score comparison for Florida schools breaks down the differences across all major state universities. USF is an excellent choice for students who want a research university experience without the extreme selectivity of UF.

Bright Futures at USF

Florida residents attending USF can receive significant tuition coverage through the Bright Futures Scholarship. The Academic Scholars award requires a 1330 SAT and covers 100% of tuition. Even the Medallion Scholars level at 1210 covers 75%. A solid SAT study plan can help you reach these thresholds and qualify for scholarships that make attendance even more affordable.

If you need help reaching your target score, our SAT tutors at Amikka Learning can help you get there with a preparation plan calibrated to Florida benchmarks.

Chris Hernandez

Christopher Hernandez, the founder of Amikka Learning, couldn't afford expensive SAT tutoring so he spent hundreds of hours studying on his own.

After improving over 400 points and attending an Ivy League school he realized how unfair the playing field was with tutoring: no matter how smart you were, if you couldn't afford tutoring you were stuck.
His dream was to change this.

He began tutoring for the SAT and quickly realized that he was a gifted tutor. His students were loving his program and improving very fast.

Fast forward 8 years, Amikka is a leader in the education industry and has helped thousands of students get into their dream schools.
